Based upon information gathered from over 5,000 professional athletes over a 20 year period, its been proven that visual function is critical in enabling superior athletic performance. The Pro Sports Vision Testing System has been proven to identify and analyze the five key areas of vision that are critical in the evaluation of athletes.
Critical Areas of Vision
The PSVTS™ evaluates the key areas of vision in sports: acuity, stereopsis, contrast, dominant eye, and glare performance under glare conditions. Backed by data gathered from hundreds of professional athlete vision exams, PSVTS™ scores the athlete against this vast pool of knowledge, giving insight into the athlete’s visual performance so that optimal vision may be achieved, translating to improved performance on the playing field.
Visual Acuity Testing>
The PSVTS™ allows the clinician to test down to a physiological threshold of 20/8. The randomized charts eliminate the randomization effect and comply with both ANSI and ISO standards.
Threshold Distance Stereo Testing
Traditional stereo testing is performed at a near testing distance which is not appropriate for the professional athlete. Threshold distance stereo testing must be performed at distance to determine how well the athlete can pick up a pitched ball or return a tennis serve.
Validated Contrast Sensitivity Testing
A critical element of the athletes vision. It is measured both with letter contrast testing and using linear sine gratings to determine functionality levels.
Automated Protocol Testing
This system follows a proprietary protocol that allows the examiner to to efficiently test the athlete with a protocol that is time proven. This feature ensures repeatability, minimizes erroneous information and eliminates technician bias.
Data Analysis & Comparison
Upon completion of the automated protocol, the subject test results are then transmitted via the internet (additional charges apply) and compared to a database of professional athletes. Immediately upon completion, the results are sent back to the clinician indicating how the subject scored relative to professional athletes. At the point, the eye care professional can then address any deficiencies and recommend corrective action.
